9 Assessment Methods For Using Online Learning …

Course Ispringsolutions.com Related Courses

1. Online Quizzes. Quizzes are a traditional assessment tool. Plus, when paired with technology, they are an excellent way to engage student learning. Quiz questions can take a number of forms, such as multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blanks, and hotspots.
2. Open-Ended/Essay Questions. Open-ended or essay-type questions are one of the most popular qualitative assessment methods. They prompt learners to explore their thoughts, feelings, and opinions, while testing their overall comprehension of a topic.
3. Drag-And-Drop Activities. Drag-and-drops are a type of assessment that show a learner’s ability to link information and apply knowledge to solve a practical problem.
4. Online Interviews. You can incorporate a video conference within your online teaching to give learning a more personal touch. During brief online interviews, students can demonstrate their proficiency in language, music, nursing, and other courses, for example, where mastery of specific skills is an important requirement.
5. Dialogue Simulations. A dialogue simulation is a way to train learners for real-life conversations with customers, colleagues, and others. When creating a conversation activity based on a situation that a student may face on the job, let them know what to expect and provide a safe place to practice their reactions and responses.
6. Online Polls. Polls allow you to capture feedback directly from your audience about their learning experience. They can be used to measure anything from learning satisfaction (Kirkpatrick Level One feedback) to why a student made a particular choice during a lesson.
7. Game-Type Activities. Game-type activities turn a series of test questions into a game. For example, a trivia game might ask learners to answer a certain number of questions within a period of time and award points based on the number of correct answers.
8. Peer Evaluation and Review. Peer evaluation turns the tables to put learners into the instructor’s seat and allow students to review and edit each other’s work.
9. Forum Posts. A forum is an online discussion board organized around a topic. Asking students to contribute to a forum post is an excellent way to gauge their understanding, pique their interest, and support their learning.

9 AdultLearning Tips And Techniques Quality …

Course Qualityassurancemag.com Related Courses

1. Informal learning as a part of the formal learning process. Adults are experienced; they want to be treated as such, and some want to share. On-the-job work experience and informal conversation are important learning activities.
2. Directed self-study. In this approach, an instructor directs an employee to a specific approved resource (e.g., a website such as this).
3. Use of varying styles. Adults tend to learn through three styles in varying degrees and combinations: visual (see it); auditory (hear it); kinesthetic (do it).
4. “ Knowledge must come through action,” as Socrates stated centuries ago. Learning with action is an effective method and a fun way to train.
5. Why before how. Since adults tend to take the approach of “What’s in it for me?” (WIIFM), you need to explain the individual benefits up front. As also stated in #2, training programs should guide learners to approved resources to analyze, synthesize, and make right choices from a rich depository — use the Internet wisely.
6. MBT (maximum brain/butt/bladder tolerance). Depending on the time of day, MBT can be as short as 10-15 minutes and usually not longer than 45-50 minutes.
7. The five-step approach is a standard model for structuring formal learning
8. Learner centered. Adults want to be treated as independent, capable people. Give them the freedom to make mistakes, yet build in evaluation and feedback steps assuring the learning is meeting the objective(s).
9. Key adult-learning principles. Within the above are four primary principles that adults expect training to include. That is, adults expect the training to utilize their experience (informal learning and engagement), readiness (WIIFM), action (on-the-job application), and autonomy (freedom to make mistakes).

10 Steps To Creating A Wildly Successful Online Course

Research Thinkific.com Related Courses

1. Pick the Perfect Course Topic. Your course topic must be something that you LOVE. If you are not passionate about your topic, it will be obvious if you don’t love your topic and will make your training about as engaging as a cardboard sandwich.
2. Ensure Your Course Idea has High Market Demand. Hands up who wants to spend weeks of their life creating an online course, for absolutely nobody to buy it?
3. Create Magnetic and Compelling Learning Outcomes. Don’t underestimate the importance of learning outcomes. If you don’t do this for your online courses you could severely risk your reputation and your bottom line – let alone make the course creation process a frustrating one.
4. Select and Gather your Course Content. This is the stage where many course creators start to risk falling into ‘The Hole of Eternal Procrastination’. The main reason we get stuck here is often because of the sheer volume of information we have in our heads or all around us in books, on our hard drives, in our notepads and so on.
5. Structure Your Modules and Course Plan. This is the stage where you now take a look at all of your content and start grouping together your similar themes, tips, and ideas into modules and then ordering the lectures within those modules into the most progressive and logical manner so that they form a flowing sequence of lessons.
6. Determine the Most Engaging and Effective Delivery Methods for Each Lesson. Now it’s time to decide on the best way to deliver your content. You need to be aware of the different principles of adult learning, learning preferences, and all of the different ways that you can deliver your training to really make sure that your training is as engaging as possible.
7. Filming, Recording, and Editing your Online Course. This is the production phase. By now you should have a thorough course plan, all of your content together and know exactly how you are going to deliver each element of your online course.
8. Setting up your online school. The first thing here is to recognize that there are three major ways to sell your online courses. online course marketplaces.
9. Getting the perfect pricing models and feeding into a bigger education-based business model. Make sure you have strategized how and where your online course will fit into your overall online course business model.

1. Set daily goals for studying. Ask yourself what you hope to accomplish in your course each day. Setting a clear goal can help you stay motivated and beat procrastination.
2. Create a dedicated study space. It’s easier to recall information if you’re in the same place where you first learned it, so having a dedicated space at home to take online courses can make your learning more effective.
3. Schedule time to study on your calendar. Open your calendar and choose a predictable, reliable time that you can dedicate to watching lectures and completing assignments.
4. Keep yourself accountable. Tell your friends about the courses you’re taking, post achievements to your social media accounts, or blog about your homework assignments.
5. Actively take notes. Taking notes can promote active thinking, boost comprehension, and extend your attention span. It’s a good strategy to internalize knowledge whether you’re learning online or in the classroom.
6. Join the discussion. Course discussion forums are a great place to ask questions about assignments, discuss topics, share resources, and make friends.
7. Do one thing at a time. Multitasking is less productive than focusing on a single task at a time. Researchers from Stanford University found that “People who are regularly bombarded with several streams of electronic information cannot pay attention, recall information, or switch from one job to another as well as those who complete one task at a time.”
8. Take breaks. Resting your brain after learning is critical to high performance. If you find yourself working on a challenging problem without much progress for an hour, take a break.
