Frequently Asked Questions

What do you need to learn before Army basic training??

You should memorize certain things before you get to basic training. Although these are covered in the program, the Air Force asks recruits to learn them ahead of time. For example, you need to know all the general Air Force ranks and the chain of command at BMT. You'll be expected to know how to report to a superior and the basics of saluting.

What are the Army principles of training??

– The Army’s Principles of Training are reduced from ten to four principles: Train as you fight; Train to standard; Train to sustain; and Train to maintain. – The rest of the Army’s training management concepts and procedures remain the same and are reflective of FM 7-0.

How can I prepare for basic training in the Army??

  • Spend the day focusing on your nutritional goals including calorie counting, meal planning, and meal preparation.
  • Strive to get seven to nine hours of sleep.
  • Drink plenty of water: the more active you are, the more water you need.

What is Army training really like??

Basic Combat Training, often known as “boot camp”, is your introduction to Army service, and where you will learn the traditions, tactics and methods of becoming a Soldier. During Basic, you’ll learn how to work as a member of a team to accomplish tasks. You’ll learn discipline, including proper dress, marching, and grooming standards.
