1. Dunes Golf & Beach Club – Myrtle Beach’s most storied course was the runaway winner, collecting 24 first place votes. The Robert Trent Jones Sr. classic has hosted the U.S. Women’s Open and six Senior PGA Tour Championships, among numerous other events.
2. Caledonia Golf & Fish Club – If traveling golfers were voting, Caledonia might top the list, but the highly acclaimed Mike Strantz design had to “settle” for second.
3. Tidewater Golf Club – Tidewater has long been on the short list of Myrtle Beach’s best courses. With eight holes that play along either the Intracoastal Waterway or Cherry Grove, Tidewater is the area’s most scenic track.
4. Grande Dunes Resort Club – The waterway holes are unforgettable, highlighted by the par 3 14th, which is arguably the area’s most dramatic one-shotter.
5. Prestwick Country Club – This course has always been a favorite of Myrtle Beach insiders but finishing this high was shocking, nonetheless. That being said, our pollsters left little doubt as to their affinity for the Pete and P.B.
6. TPC Myrtle Beach – Earlier this year, Links magazine wrote of TPC, “I don’t think I’ve seen lusher, greener, or more perfect conditions.” What more needs to be said of a layout that has hosted the Senior PGA Tour Championship and been Dustin Johnson’s home course?
7. True Blue – This Mike Strantz design is currently ranked among Golf Magazine’s Top 100 You Can Play and Golf Channel travel guru Matt Ginella has it among his personal top 50, so this might seem a little low to some.
8. Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort – There isn’t a signature hole or defining trait that pushes the Fazio Course near the top of the heap. It’s just an outstanding layout from start to finish.
9. Dye Course at Barefoot Resort – The longtime host of the Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am, the Dye Course is as challenging as architect Pete Dye’s reputation would suggest.
10. King’s North at Myrtle Beach National – This Arnold Palmer design is one of Myrtle Beach’s iconic courses, highlighted by “The Gambler,” the unforgettable par 5 sixth hole.

1. The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. The Dunes Golf and Beach Club features a long carry to the green and alternate tee boxes. There isn't a more significant course in Myrtle Beach than its second course, the historic Dunes, which opened in 1949 and put Myrtle on the map.
2. Caledonia Golf & Fish Club. The first solo design by Mike Strantz, Caledonia is more toned down compared to the late-architect's wilder stuff that came later.
3. King's North at Myrtle Beach National. One of the great holes in golf tourism is the "Gambler" on the King's North Course at Myrtle Beach National. I played this course the most during my time in Myrtle and with familiarity came an appreciation for Arnold Palmer's risk-reward layout full of holes you'll remember for a long time.
4. TPC Myrtle Beach. Current Time / Duration. Loaded: 0% Stream Type LIVE. Remaining Time - 1x Advertisement. Playing TPC Myrtle Beach with a top Grand Strand junior.
5. Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort. The Love Course at Barefoot tends to fare a little better in ratings panels, but I'm a sucker for Fazio's consistently gorgeous shaping (besides, the faux ruins of the Love course are bizarre).
6. True Blue. Designed by Mike Strantz, the challenging True Blue course in Pawleys Island, S.C. featured an island green on no. 3. Would I make True Blue my home course?
7. Tidewater Golf Club. Unquestionably one of the better waterfront settings on the Grand Strand, North Myrtle Beach's Tidewater is a real visual stunner with holes along the waterway holes on both nines, not to mention a good bit of elevation change uncommon to its neighbors.
8. Pawleys Plantation. I've always felt the Pawleys Plantation setting is one of the better ones in Myrtle Beach, and the green fees here are traditionally a little lower versus other top-shelfers.
9. Heritage Club. Heritage Club has a seriously scenic layout full of lowcountry mossy oaks and marshy vistas along the Waccamaw River. It's a fun design with plenty of teeth for better players with plenty of water to navigate and some stout forced carries, too.
10. Willbrook Plantation. Play golf courses in Myrtle Beach like Willbrook Plantation at the right time of year, and you'll enjoy great savings. I have great fondness for Willbrook Plantation, perhaps because it always seems to fly under the radar among Myrtle Beach's best courses.
