What is the Swiftwater safety and rescue course??

This online awareness course is the first step in your safety and rescue training. This comprehensive course covers topics of how the river works, basic equipment needs, safety and rescue applications and more. This is a self paced online course that takes up to 4 hrs to complete and is the prerequisite for the Swiftwater Safety Rescue Courses.

How long does it take to become a swiftwater rescue trainer??

Internationally recognized 3 year Swiftwater Rescue Training (PRO-I ) Certification of Course Completion – with satisfactory practical and written skills evaluations. On occasion, it may be deemed by your instructor that a one or two year certification is more appropriate based on practical skills evaluations.

What do you learn in a river rescue course??

You’ll learn safety techniques for how to operate around and in the river. As well we offer training in self-rescue (if you fall in), companion rescue (if your partner falls in), and subject rescue (improvised and organized rescue response). Courses vary depending on river environments, tasks, and responsibilities.

How fast should you walk during a swiftwater accident??

By comparison, the average walking pace is 3.3 mph. This course reviews proper safety at a swiftwater incident and how responders can safely stay away from the hazards that such incidents pose to citizens and emergency responders.
